Bread – yum!

Posted: March 26, 2012 in cell meetings

Last week we made bread; and this week we ate some!
and we found Jesus taught many things about bread…

  • From 5 loaves & 2 fish Jesus fed 5000
  • He taught us to pray “give us our daily bread”; Seek first God’s kingdom and he will meet all our needs
  • Before leaving his disciples he taught them, when breaking bread together to always remember him, and to thank God for his goodness to us

Wise words …

A verse from today’s cell meeting:

A person without good sense
finds fault with his neighbour
but a person of understanding
keeps quiet

Proverbs 11:12

perfect teenager

 … the perfect teenager!

Jesus didn’t look quite like that?! … but he was the perfect teenager

What happened when his parents were in the wrong? He still obeyed & he still had a good attitude to them  … he honoured them

When you obey or honour your parents God sees and he will bless you
(see Deuteronomy 5:16 – it’s the only one of the 10 commandments that comes with its own special promise)

Today was cell 149   … hope you enjoyed the pizza! & thank you to our resident artist – and all the other artists at cell today 😉

D-Day!

Posted: June 6, 2011 in cell meetings

The course of the war changed.

There would be tough days ahead but Europe’s destiny had changed.

When you become a Christian it’s your D-Day. There will be tough days but your destiny has changed: you are destined to be with God forever.

Today 6 June is cell number 146: and 67 years to the day since the Normandy Landings. We remember with gratitude what people gave to secure freedom; and are grateful to God for answering the prayers of many on that fateful day.

smelly feet

Jesus washed his disciples’ feet

Happy to do the yucky jobs because he loved them

He loves us too

Time to “wash each others feet”

well … to do good things for each other.

David Wilkerson

Posted: May 16, 2011 in cell meetings

In cell on 9 May we heard the story of the late David Wilkerson

Yes he sold his TV! –  and prayed

He thought God wanted him to go to New York and help the rough kids: the gang members. He came back a failure: he hadn’t spoken to the gang members; the police had jumped on him and the picture of that was on the front of the newspapers!

But he felt God tell him to go back, and when he did gang members listened to him: “because the police hate you”. Many became Christians and their lives were changed.

If you put God first in your life, you will be amazed how God will use you.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens  me! (Philippians 4:13)

Where in the Bible did Caleb say “WE CAN”? (a chocolate bar at the next boys cell for everyone who posts  a comment on this post with the correct answer!)

Paul’s Massive Nose

3 things that help when reading your Bible:

P = Pray about what you read

M = Memorise some verses

N = Notes (not everyone does this but when you find a good bit, it can help to make some notes)
